What is UV (Ultraviolet) Water Purifier, and How does it Work?

by eco crystal February 8, 2022 No Comments

When choosing which water purifier to purchase, it is essential to understand that they exist in different types and implement different technologies.

When choosing which water purifier to purchase, it is essential to understand that they exist in different types and implement different technologies. The acquired knowledge makes it easier to maintain and operate once it is purchased. An excellent example of the different types of water purifiers is the Ultraviolet (UV) water purifier. This water purifier is similar to other water purifiers; however, its technology makes it unique to the rest.

Moreover, understanding the specific technology used by the purchased water purifier helps you as the user effectively understand all the requirements that come with the installation, use, and maintenance. Therefore, in this case, the focus is placed on defining what UV water purifiers are and how they work. Besides, sometimes it is usually a challenge to secure the most trustable purchasing platform; however, an example of a platform to make the purchase is Eco Crystal.

What is Ultraviolet Technology in Water Purification?

Considered to be one of the most effective water purifiers in disinfecting bacteria from the water, the UV water purifier uses ultraviolet (UV) light technology. This technology involves the use of the UV rays from the sun to disinfect and kill different bacteria in the water, ensuring it is clean. Specifically, the UV rays form part of the electromagnetic spectrum, which mainly falls between x rays and visible light.

In this technology, UV light facilitates water purification by killing the cell structure of any micro organisms in the water without harming the water quality. Precisely, it facilitates the destruction of the nucleic acid of the microorganisms in the water. This is often achieved through the formation of bonds that prevent the DNA of the pathogens from replication. Therefore, once the DNA of organisms such as viruses, bacteria, and other pathogens are destroyed in the water, clean and safe water is produced.

What is an Ultraviolet Water Purification?

Water purification involves the use of different technologies, including ultraviolet (UV) light. Therefore, a UV water purifier uses ultraviolet light to purify water, precisely by damaging the DNA of the microorganisms, inhibiting their reproduction. This is essential since when one consumes water infested by these pathogens may develop a variety of health conditions. Therefore, for those customers that mainly require a water purifier to purify drinking water, this is one of the most effective water purifiers.

A UV water purifier facilitates the removal of various pathogens, including but not limited to cholera, hepatitis B, algae, fungi, giardia, salmonella, among others. Moreover, it is made up of various parts that facilitate water purification. For instance, a UV water purifier is made up of parts such as a chamber that encases the water purifier’s entire system. One of the most important parts that make up the UV water purifier is the UV lamp which emits the germicidal wavelength radiation that damages the DNA of the pathogens.

How do UV Water Purifiers Work?

The technology employed in a water purifier defines how each water purifier works and how the water is purified. Specifically, it defines the process involved in water purification, the location of the water purifier, and the maintenance required to keep the water purifier functional. In this case, a UV water purifier uses UV light technology to purify water, which is achieved through a specific process.

Besides, for this process to be effectively implemented, various water purifier parts should be present, including the UV light lamp and the quartz glass sleeve, which protects the lamp. Moreover, the effectiveness of water purification is based on various factors, including the water exposure time to the UV light, the UV lamp intensity, the general water quality, and the proper maintenance of the water purifier.

Therefore, a UV water purifier follows the following steps to purify water:

1.            Water entry into the UV water purifier system.

Before the water enters the UV water purifier system, the system should be cleaned using chlorine and housed in stainless steel casing, which is required to protect all electronic parts present, from corrosion. Moreover, water entry into the water purifier should be close to the water outlet, which can be a faucet, since the other plumbing materials may be infected with bacteria. Therefore, once the water is nearing the outlet, it enters the UV water purifier.

2.            The water is exposed to the UV light

Once the water enters the UV water purifier, it flows parallel to the UV light bulb inside the system. This ensures that the exposure to UV light is maximized to kill all the harmful pathogens in the water. Therefore, during this step, the water in the UV water purifier is then exposed to UV light, whereby all the pathogens are killed, including bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens.

3.            The purified water is ready for use

As previously indicated, the main procedure in this water purifier involves water exposure to the UV light, which performs most of the water purification. Therefore, once the water is exposed to the light, all the pathogens are killed, and the water is ready for consumption. Moreover, since the water purifier is located near the water output, it is evident that the quality of water produced is high.
